For those of you who don't have studios full of wonderful equipment for coldworking glass, this 46 page book by Paul Tarlow provides a much briefer alternative to Johnathon Schmuck's detailed work, "The Joy of Coldworking".
Tarlow provides short sections on what you should coldwork, and when you should do it. He focusses on the four most commonly used coldworking abrasives - silicon carbide, diamond, pumice and cerium oxide - and the use of diamond hand pads, flat grinding with silicon carbide or diamond disks, pollishing flat surfaces on felt disks, and using slurries for curved surfaces. He also includes a brief section on "coldworking cheats" - products such as overglazes - and a section on choosing the right coldworking approch for specific situations.
