The design for an Aralia Leaf mould was inspired by nature - the Aralia Japonicas of the American Pacific Northwest.
The Aralia Leaf casting is quite large measuring 10.5 x 8.5” (27 x 22cm), but don’t be intimidated by its size. It is just as simple to use as any of our smaller, embellishment moulds. The mould itself is 12.5 x 10 x 1.5” (32 cm x 26 cm x 4 cm). The fill weight is 350 to 400 grams.
The finished leaves can be left flat and used as small service pieces; slumped individually into plates or bowls; or grouped to form large, decorative platters and dramatic vessels.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT FOR BEST EFFECT, COLOUR DE VERRE SPECIFICALLY RECOMMENDS THE USE OF HOTLINE PRIMO PRIMER (OR MR-97, WHICH IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA).
Give the mould 3-4 thin, even coats of Primo Primer kiln wash, using a soft artist's brush to apply the Primer (Colour de Verre recommends that you do NOT use a haik brush, as this will not pick up the necessary fine detail). Use a hair dryer to completely dry each coat before applying the next.
