This is part of Colour de Verre's new candleholder range. Like their lidded boxes, you can embellish the finished tea light holder with cast elements, frit balls, shaped rods, or stringers and noodles. These pieces make great gifts that friends will appreciate.
The two-piece mould produces a curved piece about 17 cm long. Make five and create a full circle or combine two or more to create a wave. Mix 5-10% fine transparent or opal frit with fine clear frit to produce beautiful “sherbet” colors; or mix two or three medium dark colour frits with medium clear frit to create pieces that resemble granite. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT FOR BEST EFFECT, COLOUR DE VERRE SPECIFICALLY RECOMMENDS THE USE OF HOTLINE PRIMO PRIMER (OR MR-97, WHICH IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN AUSTRALIA).
Give the mould 3-4 thin, even coats of Primo Primer kiln wash, using a soft artist's brush to apply the Primer (Colour de Verre recommends that you do NOT use a haik brush, as this will not pick up the necessary fine detail). Use a hair dryer to completely dry each coat before applying the next.
The mould measures approximately 22 cm x 15 cm x 7 cm and has a fill weight of 400 grams - this is the amount of glass required to fill the mould properly.
Note that Colour de Verre instructions indicate that you need to create a cushion around the tea light plug so it can be removed from the cast glass. For the cushion, Colour de Verre recommends fibre paper - to see our range of fibre paper, click here. 24 gauge high temperature wire is also required to secure the fibre paper around the plug.
