Over the past year, the price of rare earths has skyrocketed, mainly because demand continues to outstrip supplies, and China, which controls more than 95% of the market, has further restricted its exports. As a result, products which utilise rare earths – such as these magnets – will continue to increase in cost.
If you make your own frit using any metal device, you should run a magnet over your finished frit, to remove any tiny pieces of metal which may be caught in the frit.
These Rare Earth Magnets (also known as Neodymium magnets) are ideal for this purpose. Rare Earth Magnets are five to seven times stronger than ferrite magnets and offer the most value for money. These plated magnets are approximately 19 mm in diameter and 28 mm high.
Be warned, however! They have a high magnetic field strength and can cause a little nip if you get your finger caught between the magnet and the frit smoosher or sorter!!
